PREVIEW – The Vancouver Whitecaps will continue to hunt for the top spots in the Western Conference when they visit Houston Dynamo in Texas on Wednesday. After a memorable 2-1 comeback victory over Toronto FC this past weekend, the ‘Caps will look to keep momentum against a Dynamo team that hasn’t lost at home since July.
Top Seed Places On The Line: Whitecaps vs Dynamo Prediction
Whitecaps Current Run of Form
The Whitecaps are on some form right now. They currently sit fourth in the Western Conference with two games in hand over third place Seattle Sounders. Half-way through their seven game away run, the Whitecaps have gotten ten out of a possible 12 points in their last four away games. A stellar 3-2 Cascadia Cup win over Portland started the run, before a narrow 1-0 victory over continued it. A draw in New York against NYCFC was merely a stop-gap before the winning ways continued against Toronto last Saturday. Attacking midfielder Ryan Gauld has been integral to this positive form, scoring three goals and notching three assists in this run. The Scotsman has putting in a late-season push for that MVP title, and if this run is to continue, it will be largely thanks to him.
We love Gauuuuuld
Attacking midfielder Ryan Gauld has been named to the @MLS Team of the Matchday for the th time this season following their 2-1 road victory over Canadian rivals Toronto FC on Matchday 32
Congrats once again, @RyanGauld!#VWFC| #TORvVAN

Dynamo Current Run of Form
The Dynamo themselves are in a very strong late-season form as well. They are just one point behind the Caps but with an extra played game. After going winless in all competitions from mid-June until mid-August, the Texan team has now three wins and two draws in their last five MLS matches, gaining four clean sheets along the way. At home, they have not lost a game since July 12th, winning three and drawing once since then in MLS. Since turning their form around, Corey Baird has been flying for Houston. The American winger has four goals and an assist in his last five matches. A stark improvement after just scoring three goals in MLS prior to this run.

Recent Head to Head
The last time these two sides met, the Whitecaps came away with a massive 6-2 victory at home over the Dynamo, who were listless throughout large parts of the match. Prior to that, the Whitecaps had won only one out of their last five, drawing two and losing two. Houston also boasts a fantastic home record against the ‘Caps, going undefeated since March 10th 2018, when the Whitecaps recorded a 2-1 victory. The Whitecaps will have to upset recent history if they are to continue their fine form.
Houston still hasn’t won a game in Vancouver, ever

Whitecaps vs Dynamo Match Prediction
It will be a difficult match for the Whitecaps, who despite great form away from home, will likely face their toughest test yet. The fact that Houston have kept as many clean sheets at home in recent weeks, as well as their history against the Whitecaps at home, means it will likely be a cagey affair in Houston. Don’t be surprised if the scoreline is anymore than a 0-0 draw, a score that would benefit both teams at this point in the season. The kickoff of the game would be at 8:39 PM ET (5:39 PM PT) and it will be shown live on Apple TV – MLS Season Pass. The game will take place at Shell Energy Stadium.
