JUVENILE GUN: One of six Chicago juveniles was booked into the River Valley Detention Facility, accused of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after an officer recovered a handgun during a Feb. 4 seat-belt traffic stop at Dixie Highway and Miller Street, police said. The five other juveniles were released to their parents, police said.

ILLEGAL GUN: Trey Thames, 21, 16400 block of Betty Lane, South Holland, was arrested and accused of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon/vehicle and resisting a police officer after officers recovered a loaded .45 caliber handgun during a Feb. 12 traffic stop in the 2200 block of 147th Street, Cook County sheriff’s police said.
Evergreen Park
INDECENCY ALLEGED: John R. Ratliff, 32, Chicago, was arrested and accused of public indecency Feb. 13 in the 2600 block of 95th Street after he followed a woman onto a bus, exposed himself to her, followed her into a gas station and then went into the restroom, where he masturbated while watching her, police said.
Homewood
PEDESTRIAN HIT: The Homewood Police Department’s criminal investigations unit, with assistance from the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team, is investigating a Feb. 16 vehicle-pedestrian collision that sent the 18-year-old female pedestrian to a medical facility with serious injuries, police said. A northbound sport utility vehicle hit the woman in the 18500 block of Kedzie Avenue, police said.
Lansing
SHOTS FIRED: Investigators are trying to determine if and how a Feb. 15 evening report of shots fired in the 18500 block of Wildwood Avenue is related to two other reports, police said. Officers responding recovered shell casings and broken glass in that block, police said. They then learned two men arrived at Community Hospital in Munster in a vehicle with numerous bullet holes and were treated for nonlife-threatening gunshot wounds and released, police said. Less than two hours after the original call and about 1 mile away, a different vehicle peppered with bullet holes was engulfed in flames, police said. That unoccupied vehicle had been reported stolen out of Lake County, Illinois, police said.
ILLEGAL GUN: Dantrell E. Washington, 30, Gary, was arrested during a Feb. 13 traffic stop and accused of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon after an officer recovered a handgun from the vehicle, police said.
Oak Lawn
GROOMING ALLEGED: A Rockford area man is charged with five felony counts that include attempted aggravated criminal sexual abuse, indecent solicitation of a child, traveling to meet a minor, grooming and solicitation to meet a child, police said. Brian A. Harris, 38, was arrested Feb. 1 in Oak Lawn after more than a week communicating with a person he thought was a 15-year-old girl via an online messaging app, though it was an Evergreen Park police lieutenant working with the Cook County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, police said.
Orland Park
DUI CRASH: Shirisha Kommu, 42, 21200 block of Vivienne Drive, Matteson, was arrested and accused of drunken driving, failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash, unlawful stopping/standing, improper lane use and leaving a crash scene Feb. 2 after colliding with a light pole at 151st Street and West Avenue, police said.
IDENTITY THEFT: An East Chicago, Indiana man attempting to obtain jewelry with phony photo identification was charged with identity theft/more than $2,000 after failing to correctly spell the name on the photo identification he was using and admitting he didn’t know the credit owner’s date of birth, police said. Andre D. Abbey, 33, taken into custody Feb. 14 at the Jared Galleria of Jewelry at Orland Square mall, was also charged with possessing fictitious identification and unlawfully possessing a credit card, police said.
ILLEGAL GUN: Raven S. Johnson, 22, Chicago, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon during a Feb. 14 retail theft investigation at Jewel-Osco, 9350 159th St., after an officer recovered a stun gun, police said. She is scheduled to appear in court March 5 at the George N. Leighton Criminal Court Building and was being held in Cook County Jail, according to sheriff’s records online.
Palos Heights
BATTERY: Kendall D. Townsell, 32, 9900 block of Hill Terrace, Palos Heights, was arrested and accused of battery Feb. 18 at Northwestern Medicine Palos Hospital after slamming a door on a nurse’s hand, police said.
Steger
SHELLS FOUND: Officers investigating a Feb. 11 report of five 9 mm shell casings found in the alley in the 3000 block of Union Avenue found seven more, police said. The complainant said the area has been quiet since New Year’s, police said.
ILLEGAL GUN: Evander L. Foster, 27, Steger, was arrested and accused of aggravated assault with a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, aggravated battery to a police officer and illegally possessing more than 500 grams of cannabis Feb. 12, police said.
SHOTS FIRED: Racist graffiti was discovered spray painted onto a business sign Feb. 16 in the 3400 block of Chicago Road.
ILLEGAL GUN: Clevon Head, 24, Chicago was arrested and subsequently charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after officers recovered a loaded 9 mm Glock handgun during a Feb. 18 traffic stop at Halsted Street and Steger Road, police said. Head’s state-mandated gun credentials were revoked because he had a felony indictment, police said.
