Former Penn State wide receiver Omari Evans has committed to Washington in the transfer portal. The addition to the Huskies’ 2025 transfer class is a much-needed pickup after the program parted ways with Johntay Cook II. Of the 14 members of the transfer class, Evans is one of just two skill-position offensive players. The other is USC transfer tight end Kade Eldridge. Evans has a three-star transfer rating and heads to Washington with one season of eligibility remaining.
Omari Evans Commits to Washington
Evans’ commitment comes after visiting Montlake on Tuesday, January 21st. The former Nittany Lion, also visited Texas Tech, Tennessee, and Syracuse in addition to Washington. Evans is a Texas native and has played three seasons of college football. He’ll be a true senior next season for Washington. After enrolling at Penn State in 2022, he played in 13 games as a true freshman, catching five passes and one touchdown that season. He appeared in 11 games the following season, and had his best year as a junior this past season in Happy Valley.
Evans caught 21 passes for 415 yards and five touchdowns with an average of nearly 20 yards per catch in 2024. His five touchdown catches were the most by a Penn State wide receiver this season. Only tight end Tyler Warren had more, with eight on the year. Evans played in all 16 games this season with five starts. In his career, Evans has now appeared in 40 college football games in three seasons.
At 6’-0” and 190 pounds, Evans can become an instant impact at wide receiver for the Huskies. The Washington receiver room loses two starters into next season with Giles Jackson and Jeremiah Hunter both graduating. It lost some depth as well with Keith Reynolds and Jason Robinson Jr. both transferring out. Outside of Denzel Boston, who had 63 catches this season, the returning receiver with the next-most catches on the roster is Rashid Williams, who had 11 catches last year. Evans has the opportunity to fill a veteran role at Washington. His experience makes him an impact player right away. But he will also fill the transition between the veterans last year and the younger players in the receiver room.
