We are moving on to the quarterfinal round for the college football playoff as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish earned their spot by taking down the Indiana Hoosiers. Notre Dame’s opponent is the Georgia Bulldogs — champions of the SEC.
While seed pairings are #7 VS #2, the reality is that the AP Top 25 Rankings have this as a #3 (Notre Dame) vs #2 (Georgia). To be fair, the AP rankings feel pretty accurate about right now — and even if they aren’t — the disparity between the two programs feels that way.
Notre Dame is 0-3 all-time versus Georgia with an average margin of loss in those three games being about 5 points in the three meetings (1981 Sugar Bowl, 2017 South Bend, 2019 Athens). NOW is as good of a time as any to flip the script and reset the cycle.
