Mr. Do it all
The Notre Dame football roster is full of great players — known and unknown. No matter the place on the depth chart or the recruiting ranking a player had attached to him before his arrival at Notre Dame — there are probably some things I really like about him. So over the course of the next few months, let’s take a positive approach to running down the roster.
Almost daily (just being honest) I’ll list three things I like about a single player on the roster, and as an additional bonus, I’ll post some extra pics over on the OFD Instagram account (be sure to follow RIGHT HERE).
Next up…
#6 Jordan Faison — Wide Receiver
The 5’10” 185 pound junior from Pine Crest High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has been one of those legendary names since he first stepped on the practice field as a walk-on with the Irish. It’s incredible to think after so much media praise in fall camp, it took a month into his freshman season to finally see the field.
Here are three things I like about Jordan Faison:
1. He is a walk-on legend.
Obviously — he’s not a walk-on anymore, but that doesn’t matter. Anytime you can get an athlete from the pool of walk-ons to go out there and make the starters look silly, you’re cooking with gas.
yesterday’s post route run by @NDlacrosse freshman Jordan Faison was no different than a split dodge taking topside out of the box — make no mistake, the best dodgers in lacrosse can take care of anyone. pic.twitter.com/HZdm3ksaXA

2. He is a lacrosse national champion.
First… there’s just something about a multi-sport athlete who shines on any field that makes you want to watch them to see what they do next. He was brought to Notre Dame to help the Irish win a national championship in lacrosse (which he did) and just fell short of another in the college football national championship game against Ohio State.

3. He is ready for anything.
Faison kind of came out of nowhere and the Irish have asked him to do multiple things on offense AND on special teams. One of the more spectacular moments was on a fake punt touchdown against the Virginia Cavaliers that was eventually called back because the refs forgot the rules of football. He also made a nice little pass completion on a two point conversion against Ohio State. You know… he can do just about anything.
Notre Dame scored a touchdown on a 73-yard fake punt.
While the play didn’t count, it did impress Jason Garrett, who called it “one of the greatest plays I’ve ever seen in football.” pic.twitter.com/U4pI1iiPDq
