Wore the white pants but thankfully we didn’t have to wave a white flag
Fun Times in ATL, but Some Controversies Still Come Up
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish went into Atlanta on Saturday against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and got a good win. It all was a little funky – Mercedes-Benz Stadium, roof open, white pants, and a slow start. However, the team got to the point where even scoring into the 20s meant the game was put away.
Some flukey stuff occurred, and I think we saw that with some early play in the game. Even with the Irish covering the spread (and like other games this year), people still had some gripes.
ND vs GT – Overreactions We Saw
I blame the white pants.

For context this was right after Riley Leonard’s weirdo interception that almost landed back in Georgia Tech’s actual home field. I almost agreed with this sentiment, because sometimes I’m a purist. You can’t blame play on the color of the uniform, but it was just strange to see. I saw some takes that the white pants would be great for a one-time-per-season, thing and I would agree with that. But, we did this for Louisville this year, so the threshold had been passed. If we wear blue jerseys, I just think the gold pants have to go with it.
When are we going to play a QB in the QB position though?

This was a non-sequitur reply to another Sampson tweet, so I’m not going to put that here again. But, Sampson did point out to this gentleman that Leonard was 12-for-12 since the first quarter up to that point and ended 20-for-29, almost 70% completion. We have to put this narrative to bed. Leonard is not amazing, but he can make us even more of a threat on the ground, and his passing has gotten remarkably better. He is doing a good job managing the offense and getting the wins we’ve needed since NIU.
It’s wild how ND’s schedule has become markedly easier than we thought preseason.#stylepointsmatter

Goolsby is unfortunately becoming a regular in these posts, which is too bad because I loved when he played for us. This take is confusing because the Irish have to face Army and Navy who are both undefeated and ranked. We never saw that coming at the beginning of the season. I feel like the rest of the schedule has been playing out like we thought. Just tough to see the remaining schedule and think that this has gotten easier than we thought when we all thought the schedule was pretty easy to begin with.
