The Ole Miss receiving corps were going to have to be rebuilt heading into the offseason. After losing a ton of production from this year’s 10-3 squad, replacements had to be made. Anyone who pays attention to the program knows that to be the case. Now, midway through January, Lane Kiffin has made sure to do that, both in the transfer portal and in the 2025 high school class. However, many Rebel fans thought he was just about done focusing on the wide receiver position. Instead, he decided to add more depth, this time with the commitment of former Penn State receiver Harrison Wallace.
Wallace marks the fifth transfer receiver Kiffin has brought in through this year’s portal. He also brought in the third-best high school receiver, according to 247Sports. Ole Miss also added a transfer tight end to the mix, just for good measure.
So while Ole Miss fans may be sad to see Jordan Watkins, Tre Harris, and Caden Prieskorn enter the NFL Draft, it appears that the passing attack in Oxford will be just fine moving forward.
Who Is the Newest Rebel, Harrison Wallace?
The 6-1, 195-pound wideout was a three-year starter for Penn State. In his final year in State College, he proved to be the Nittany Lions’ best receiver, catching 46 passes for 720 yards. He also brought in four touchdowns this season. While those numbers won’t just jump out at you, that could partially be due to the offense he was playing in. The Penn State offense features a run-heavy style. In a more pass-oriented offense in Oxford, it should be safe to imagine those numbers improve next season.
However, one of the biggest additions Wallace brings to Ole Miss is experience. With Penn State having reached the College Football Playoff semifinals this season, he now brings playoff experience to the Rebel receiving room. In this type of situation, big game experience simply can’t be overstated.
Where Will He Fit Into the Offense?
This is a tough question to answer. Primarily due to not knowing whether Kiffin looks to add any other receivers. As it currently stands, it’s hard not to see Wallace as a starter for the Rebels next season.
The sure-handed Cayden Lee, who is returning for his junior year, is expected to be the primary slot option for Kiffin and the Rebels. At one of the wideout spots, Ole Miss is likely to look toward Oklahoma State transfer De’Zhaun Stribling. They could also look to true freshman Caleb Cunningham, the top-rated player from the state of Mississippi. This would leave Wallace as the primary wideout on the opposite side of the field. A few other options for the Rebels would be Alabama transfer Caleb Odom, West Virginia transfer Traylon Ray, or Wake Forest transfer Deuce Alexander.
Regardless of who ends up being the starter at either wideout spot, there’s almost certain to be plenty of substitutions for the Rebel receivers. And with the experience picked up at Penn State, expect Wallace to get plenty of snaps, especially in high-pressure situations.
