SURPRISE!
On Sunday, 3-Star defensive lineman Gordy Sulfsted gave his public commitment to the 2025 recruiting class for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

The 6’5” 235 pounder from St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, committed to the Irish over a respectable offer list that included the Wisconsin Badgers, Duke Blue Devils, Miami Hurricanes, Iowa Hawkeyes, Washington Huskies, and more from around the country.
I really like this addition to the class for Notre Dame. Sulfsted has the frame to get a lot bigger, but the athleticism to remain outside. If that happens, he does have the potential to develop into a very good sub-package interior rusher with his lateral twitch.
This is a tenacious football player who gets after it as a blocker on offense (tight end) and has plus traits that could see him develop into a defensive lineman who is capable of playing all three downs from multiple alignments.
Sulfsted is the 21st commitment of the 2025 Notre Dame Football recruiting class. A class that is still ranked #1 in the country according to the 247 Sports Team Composite Rankings.
The Irish are loading up on the defensive side of the ball, and have several front seven players that offer a range of flexibility as far as how they line up and how they are used within the system.
I’m sure some Notre Dame fans who claim to be recruiting experts because they graduated kindergarten and can count to 5 — might be a little disappointed in a 3-Star prospect. I won’t sit here and try to change your mind — because you know man — those recruiting services are accurate AF all of the time. I’ll just say this… I love his offer list, and I love the high school program he’s in right now. Will it take him a couple of years to become a major contributor? Probably, but I fully expect there to be a college football season in 2027.
OHIO FOREVER.
