And for what?
We aren’t even at PEAK COLLEGE FOOTBALL OFFSEASON yet (which is during the doldrums of May and June) and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are already taking shots from the social media accounts of a couple of “big brand” teams.
Obviously, the Irish and its faithful fanbase, are used to jeers and trash talk as it comes with the territory of being Notre Dame — a CFB blue-blood that hasn’t won a national title in decades. Still, the two jabs actually just further evidence that the Irish are back to being one of the elite programs in the country.
USC’S TIME TRAVEL
Before we say anything else, it’s probably a good thing to remember that since 2010, the USC Trojans are just 4-10 against Notre Dame (and haven’t won in South Bend since 2011). But, because they hired a clown as a general manager and were able to get a commitment from an Irish legacy wide receiver — they thought they did something here by having Mike Williams talk about Southern Cal being WRU (which is a bold lie) while exclusively using 20 year old clips from games against Notre Dame.

C’mon guys… do better. You’re supposed to be a rival.
FREE RENT NEIGHBOR
There are only two programs in the country that have claim to talk shit against the Irish — the Northern Illinois Huskies and the Ohio State Buckeyes. As it’s been said a thousand times before, the NIU loss likely helped catapult the Irish throughout the rest of the season and into the playoffs. Notre Dame won three playoff games this past season with victories over the Indiana Hoosiers in the first round, the Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl, and the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Orange Bowl.
Still… Notre Dame lost in the championship game to a loaded OSU roster, and that definitely sucked because, of course, it’s OSU. After years of not having any gold pants of their own, they went after Notre Dame’s gold pants.

Honestly, this was well done and you can’t really hate it. It does have that “live in your head rent free” vibe though, and maybe that’s why it sticks out that much more.
IT’S FINE
No matter how you look at these two tweets, it’s fair to say that they exist because the Irish have put themselves back into being an elite college football program — so you kind of have to love it (kind of).
