Feeling oddly satisfied
We just witnessed an incredible weekend of college football — all while the Notre Dame Fighting Irish were home eating cheeseburgers. While I refused to acknowledge it before Saturday because of the yawn factor of the day, I was proven wrong as it turned into a true BLOOD WEEK that served up cheeseburgers in South Bend.
So how did the Irish opponents do this week?
#15 Texas A&M Aggies — WON vs Missouri Tigers (5-1) —
Northern Illinois — WON vs UMass (3-2) —
Purdue Boilermakers — LOST vs Wisconsin Badgers (1-4) —
Miami Redhawks — LOST vs Toledo Rockets (1-4) —
Louisville Cardinals — LOST vs SMU Mustangs (3-2) —
Stanford Cardinal — LOST vs Virginia Tech Hokies (2-3) —
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets — WON vs Duke Blue Devils (4-2) —
Navy Midshipmen — WON vs Air Force Falcons (5-0) —
Florida State Seminoles — LOST vs Clemson Tigers (1-5) —
Virginia Cavaliers — WON vs Boston College Eagles (4-1) —
Army Black Knights — WON vs Tulsa (5-0) —
USC Trojans — LOST vs Minnesota Gophers (3-2) —
There was a huge shift in the rankings due to the insanity of so many Top 25 teams losing — especially four inside the Top 10. Notre Dame was in a weird spot and moved up in both polls, but they also saw a couple of teams jump over them as well. Such is the nature of the bye week.
