Notre Dame football had a big Columbus Day for its 2025 recruiting class as they flipped two players from their commitments elsewhere.
On Monday, 3-Star Cameron Herron flipped his commitment from the Iowa Hawkeyes to the Irish.

The 6’3” 275-pound interior offensive lineman from Warren Central High School in Indianapolis Indiana had been committed to Iowa since June. Besides Iowa, Herron held offers from a number of other places including the Northwestern Wildcats, Cincinnati Bearcats, Indiana Hoosiers, and more.
Really good looking interior lineman who could end up guard or center. Has some of the quickest feet of any offensive lineman in the class. Moves really well laterally and has no problems getting to the second level and taking on a linebacker or safety. Always looks on-balance, is a fluid mover and strong kid at the point of attack. Powerful upper body and is a road grader in the run game. Gets off the ball really well, stays low and plays with great leverage. Plays with advanced technique and has a really nice all around skill set to be an impact player at the college level.
Also on Monday, 4- Star quarterback Blake Hebert flipped his commitment from the Clemson Tigers to the Irish.

The 6’3” 215 pounder from Brunswick School in Greenwich, Connecticut, had been committed to the Clemson tigers since June of 2023. Besides Clemson, Hebert held offers from a handful of schools that included the Ole Miss Rebels, North Carolina Tar Heels, Penn State Nittany Lions, Iowa Hawkeyes, and more.
Poised signal caller with a well-rounded game that lacks elite traits, but finds ways to get the job done with savvy movements and solid vision. Lost a majority of his junior season due to a broken ankle injury, but quickly rebounded and had his moments early on in senior season. Possesses a smoother stroke and can make some high-level tosses to the deeper third, but can struggle at times with ball placement and can miss low. Has a knack for slipping away from pressure and extending plays, but tends to be at his best when he’s operating out of a stationary setting and trying to stay on schedule with his clean mechanics. Owns college-ready mass at 6-foot-3, 215-pounds and has tested in the upper percentile for the position, but likely won’t offer a ton of value as a runner on Saturdays when he levels up in competition. Still, has proven to be a tough competitor that isn’t afraid to stand his ground and take a hit. Overall, should be viewed as a potential starter at the Power Four level that can win from the pocket with his slick movements and crafty decisions.
This brings Notre Dame’s class to 23 commitments. Three of those commitments are now from one small high school in Connecticut — the Brunswick School. Grabbing a kid from Warren Central is no small task either, but this is definitely not the norm moving forward — just a really nice gift. The class is currently ranked #13 according to the 247 Team Composite Rankings.
With the departure of Deuce Knight to the Auburn Tigers, Notre Dame needed to find another quarterback for this class. In all fairness, it still looks like this will likely be CJ Carr’s team in 2025, and if the plan works, Noah Grubbs will step in when Carr leaves for the NFL (the best scenario possible). Still, you need a number of quarterbacks that can get the job done every year. Can Hebert be that guy — or even more?
Yes… these flips of Cameron Herron and Blake Hebert look to be more about adding depth rather than star power, and that’s hard for fans to get overly excited about when it comes to recruiting. However… these are the pickups that we have seen time and time again from all over the country that add value to the team and can help teams win football games.
These are two good additions to the class.
WELCOME TO ND CAMERON AND BLAKE!
