With sights set on Spring practice beginning in a little over a month, the Husky quarterback room is one of intrigue. Not only because of the excitement surrounding Demond Williams Jr.’s role as the starter. But also because of the talented true freshmen who will be on campus for practice. Dash Beierly and Kini McMillan bring impressive high school pedigrees to Montlake. We’ll get our first look at the two members of the class of 2025 in a matter of weeks. With a young quarterback group, there’s room for each to make an impact as the depth chart begins to come into formation.

Dash Beierly
Prior to Beierly’s senior season, he tossed 41 touchdowns at Chaparral High School while rushing for an additional 16 scores. He transferred to Mater Dei before his senior season, taking on the challenge of becoming the starting quarterback at one of the nation’s premier high school football programs. There, he led the Monarchs to an undefeated season. Beierly won all 13 games on a schedule that included some of the nation’s best teams including St. John Bosco and Corona Centennial. Mater Dei capped the season by winning the California CIF Open Division Championship and was named the HighSchoolFootballAmerica.com National Champion.
During that undefeated run, Beierly threw for 2,175 yards, 26 touchdowns, and just two interceptions. He added five rushing scores on the year as well. Beierly lived up to the challenge he set for himself, proving his place as one of the top quarterbacks in his recruiting class. He stood out at the Elite 11 Regional competition last Summer with an athleticism rating of 97.26. No other quarterback at this regional broke the 90 mark. Beierly also finished fourth in the Accuracy Challenge with a score of 21. This was a nine throw showcase where quarterbacks displayed their timing and precision in front of scouts. Beierly is listed at 6′-1″ and 215 pounds on the Huskies’ site.
Kini McMillan
Hawaii’s Gatorade Player of the Year in 2023 is on campus at Washington. McMillan threw 42 touchdown passes as a junior with over 3,500 passing yards at Mililani High School in Hawaii. He rushed for an additional 11 scores. His efforts earned him Hawaii Player of the Year and MaxPreps state Player of the Year that season, in addition to his recognition by Gatorade. McMillan was sidelined for much of his senior season due to an injury suffered early in the season.
McMillan’s frame is a little shorter, at 6′-0″ according to the Huskies’ site and 200 pounds. But that hasn’t hindered his accuracy down the field as a passer. During the Elite 11 Regional competition last Summer, McMillan won the Accuracy Challenge with a score of 22. He’s a physical quarterback and a consistent thrower of the football. Though he didn’t have a full senior season to display his talents, we’ll see what he looks like in a matter of weeks in a Husky uniform.
Washington’s Quarterback Room
The two freshmen now join a Washington quarterback room with limited experience outside of Williams. Behind the sophomore, Shea Kuykendall is a junior who did not take a snap last season. Washington added Tulane transfer Kai Horton in late January to bolster the depth. Behind Williams, signs point to an open quarterback competition. And with this coaching staff, age has never been a limitation regarding earning playing time.
Beierly and McMillan are both ideal quarterbacks for Jedd Fisch’s Husky offense. Each of the two has strong arms that allow them to stretch the field vertically and make off-platform throws when needed. Their dual-threat abilities match what Fisch looks for in his quarterback. The Huskies are set to have a deep offensive line available this Spring, ensuring players like Beierly – who will wear No. 9 – and McMillan – who will wear number 10 – get meaningful reps. Spring practice begins April 2nd.
