The Nebraska Cornhuskers will be well-represented in the NFL Draft. On February 1st, three Huskers will be able to showcase their skills in the Reese’s Senior Bowl. Which players are making a name for themselves at practice?
Which Huskers Are Standing Out at Senior Bowl Practice?
Ty Robinson
It didn’t matter if he was playing under Tony White’s defense or John Butler’s. The pass rusher was able to weather the storm in his last year with the Cornhuskers, Robinson managed to lead the Blackshirts with six sacks and six quarterback hurries. The lineman was also a force near the line of scrimmage. In eight of the Huskers’ last twelve games, Robinson notched one tackle for loss. These performances helped the Big Red rank 19th nationally in total defense, and 14th in rushing defense. It is expected that Robinson will create even more noise for the Huskers at the Senior Bowl. At 296 pounds, he is the heaviest defensive lineman at the showcase, but he makes up for his size with his 6-foot-8 wingspan and 10-inch hands. This will likely impress scouts. But will it move him up in the draft order? ESPN analyst Mel Kiper currently ranks him the sixth-best defensive tackle in the draft.
Tommi Hill
Hill was extremely flatfooted at the beginning of Senior Bowl practices. However, on day three of the event, he found his stride. It began with an intercepted pass intended for Pittsburgh Panthers tight end Gavin Bartholomew. The 210-pound cornerback also broke up one of Dillon Gabriel‘s passes. If he can find a way to dominate in the actual showcase, Hill will find his way into the middle rounds of the NFL Draft. The only concern that would stop teams from picking him is his long list of injuries in Lincoln. After a strong start in 2024, Hill suffered a foot injury in the Huskers’ overtime loss to Illinois. This hampered his chances to play in Nebraska’s final three games of the season. Hill also missed his opportunity to contribute in the Pinstripe Bowl against Boston College. If he had competed in those contests, there’s no question that Hill would have easily jumped in the draft rankings.

Thomas Fidone
After a turbulent career with the Cornhuskers, Fidone is trying his luck at the NFL Draft. We should expect the tight end to make an impression on scouts at the Senior Bowl. At 6-foot-6 and 255 pounds, he has the measurements needed to succeed as a tight end. Unfortunately, he couldn’t use these to his advantage in Lincoln. He tore his ACL twice in his first two seasons with the Big Red. This will hurt his draft stock, but Fidone rebounded quickly. As a redshirt sophomore in 2023, he led all Cornhusker tight ends with four touchdown catches. He was also able to maintain his production in 2024. In only 12 games for the Huskers this Fall, he had 36 receptions and 373 yards. The Iowa native played a small part in Nebraska’s bowl victory. In the bright lights of Yankee Stadium, he had five catches for 50 yards against Boston College. But can he take the next step in Mobile? He’s certainly off to a good start. He went from receiver to runner quickly, and according to reports from practice, he is catching the ball well.
