Can the Irish Handle Success?
How’d We Do Last Week?
As a refresher, I feature the most interesting, most wildly inaccurate, and most accurate takes for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish from the previous week. Let’s get started!
Most Interesting
Shoutout Stanford Griffiths for this one which audibly made me laugh. Also all of you definitely read it in Garrett’s exact tone.
Most Wildly Inaccurate
The offense wasn’t fantastic, but the biggest plays of the day relied on the arms of Leonard. Again, nothing groundbreaking, but progress on throws to Greathouse, Love, and Harrison.
Most Accurate
(hurts my arm patting myself on the back). While not completely accurate, Sneed and Mills both picked up their first sacks of the year. Cross had has best game of the year and likely would have picked up a sack if not for a holding call. This is a critical development for the Irish as they start the next stretch of the schedule.
And now onto the takes against the Stanford Cardinal!
Cold Take
Benjamin Morrison interception
Morrison has had a very solid year, but has been relatively quiet. This is likely due to team avoiding him and going after the younger corners (how’s that been going?). He will be on Elic Ayomanor, who is a very very good WR. Stanford will try and feed him the ball regardless of who is covering him. Morrison takes advantage and comes up with a first half int and potentially gets a second early in the 3rd quarter.
Hot Take
Kris Mitchell has a long touchdown on an end around or a reverse
The coaches like Mitchell, but he has gotten off to a wildly slow start. The coaches want to get him involved as he needs to be a critical piece if the Irish want to make the playoff. Stanford will heavily lean on stopping the run and key on Leonard/Love/Price. We will see a toss to Love or a QB power where they reverse it to Mitchell and or Harrison that goes for a long touchdown. It will be good for confidence and will likely happen after a few successful runs from usual suspects.
Your Takes: Please leave your takes below (hot, cold medium-any temp). I will feature the Top Takes next week. GO IRISH!
