Just days after the 2024 season ended, the ACC has started announcing schedules for its 17 member schools for the 2025 season, and there are some early marquee matchups.
The conference office in Charlotte, NC has started announcing schedules for Week 0 and the Labor Day weekend, which will include five consecutive days of ACC football. Labor Day weekend has some highlight match-ups.
The Stanford Cardinal will kick off its second season as a member of the ACC at Hawai’i on Saturday, August 23, in what has become the unofficial start of the college football season in Week 0.
Heating Up Labor Day Weekend
That Labor Day weekend schedule starts on Thursday night with North Carolina State hosting East Carolina.
Friday, Wake Forest has the TV audience to itself, with new head coach Jake Dickert, as the Demon Deacons host Kennesaw State.
Marquee Matchups
Things ramp up on Saturday of Labor Day weekend with some blueblood matchups. Alabama travels to Tallahassee to play Florida State and LSU plays at Clemson that same day.
That Saturday also has the first of two Kickoff Classics, sponsored by AFLAC, at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The first one, on August 30th, features Syracuse against Tennessee.
Georgia Tech goes to Boulder for a rare match-up against Colorado, albeit with Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders for the Buffaloes. The ACC is also touting Cal playing at Oregon State that Saturday, but it’s not like they haven’t faced each other for the last 50 years as part of the Pac 8/10/12.
Notre Dame, the 2024 national runner-up, will travel to Hard Rock Stadium to play the Miami Hurricanes on Sunday, August 31st. Also on that Sunday, there will be the second of the two Kickoff Classics with the ACC’s Virginia Tech playing the SEC’s South Carolina.
The Remaining Schedules to Be Announced
The ACC has come to have a bit of a lock on Monday of Labor Day weekend over recent years. This year will be the 16th straight year the conference has played the highlight, or even the only game in some years, on Labor Day. This year it will be Bill Belichick’s first-ever game as a college head coach as the North Carolina Tar Heels host the TCU Horned Frogs.
The ACC opener for each conference school will be announced Friday of this week. On Monday of next week, the conference will reveal the entire schedule for all 17 teams in a late-night broadcast on the ACC Network.
