Can the Wildcats leave Philadelphia on a high note?
After squandering a five-point fourth quarter lead against Charleston (SC) yesterday, Northwestern (6-5, 0-1 B1G) was dealt just its second loss since November 24. Despite 32 combined points from Caileigh Walsh and Mel Daley, the Wildcats just didn’t have enough juice in the fourth quarter. The loss sent them to the third-place game of the Hawk Classic.
However, Northwestern will have a chance to get back on the winning track against Howard (6-7, 0-0 MEAC) this morning in Philadelphia. The Bison have lost five of their last six games, with three of those losses coming by at least 14 points. In their loss to Saint Joseph’s yesterday, freshman guard Saniyah King scored 23 points. The rest of the team scored just 30.
It’s an amazing day for sports, and these two squads will tip it off from Michael J. Hagan Arena at 10:00 a.m. central time. If the Wildcats prevail, they’ll be riding a 6-2 stretch (and a weeklong break) into their second Big Ten game of the year, against Washington on December 28.
