Fitzgerald was fired by Northwestern amid allegations of hazing within the football program. The school investigated the claims and found that Fitzgerald was responsible for the culture of the team.
David Braun was then announced as the head coach after serving as the defensive coordinator.
Prior to being fired, Fitzgerald had been the head coach of the football team for the last 17 seasons. During that time, he went 110-101 and had three seasons of 10 wins. He also had five seasons of at least nine wins.
We’ll have to see what comes of this lawsuit when it’s made public.
