Former LSU head coach Ed Orgeron was recently linked to the now-vacant Northwestern job. Is it on his radar though?
It doesn’t look like it. As surprised as the wider football world was to learn of Coach O being linked to the job, the former national championship winner was as surprised if not more.
Speaking to Sheldon Mickles of the Baton Rouge Advocate, Orgeron laughed off the idea of being connected to Northwestern. He made it clear that he’s happily retired and mused on where people get information like that.
“Man, I don’t know where they get this stuff,” Orgeron said.

Ed Orgeron was ousted from his position at LSU after going just 11-11 in the two years following his team’s undefeated national championship win in 2019.
But despite no end of interest in hiring the 2019 Coach of the Year, Orgeron seems pretty content in being retired and staying retired.
Northwestern will have to cast the net a little wider to bring in their permanent replacement for Pat Fitzgerald.
Will Ed Orgeron ever coach again?
