After making Caleb Williams the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears have hopes that he can finally be the long-term franchise quarterback that they’ve sought for generations. Fortunately, the early returns on the work he’s done in training appear promising.
Appearing on Sirius XM NFL Radio, Bears tight end Cole Kmet spoke glowingly of Williams, highlighting the intangibles he’s seen from the former Heisman Trophy winner and expressing how excited he is. He said that “you can see the progress” that Williams made in the organized team activities in practices today.
“He’s really just a normal dude,” Kmet said. “Really good kid. Ultra-competitive and you can see why he’s been so successful thus far in his football career and why he has those types of intangibles to succeed in the NFL. I’m really excited for him. He’s been putting in a lot of work and you can see the progress he was making throughout the OTA period.”
That has to be music to Bears’ fans ears.
Few franchises in history have been as beset by quarterback woes as Chicago. They’ve never had a player throw for 4,000 yards or 30 touchdowns in their 100-plus-year history.
Will Caleb Williams be the first?
