Tutu Atwell, Los Angeles Rams, Agree to Contract
Atwell hit the open market following the best season of his young career. Appearing in all 17 games while making five starts, the wide receiver finished his season with 42 receptions for 562 yards and no touchdowns on 62 targets. With his help, the Los Angeles Rams overcame an uninspiring 1-4 start to make it all the way to the NFC Divisional Round. Unfortunately, the team lost to the Philadelphia Eagles after a last-second comeback fell just short.
Tutu Atwell originally entered the league as a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Selected by the Los Angeles Rams, the Louisville product had a terrible start to his career. Spending most of the year on special teams, the wideout played in eight games as a rookie and didn’t record a single catch, or even a target. Even with his lack of contribution, Atwell still earned a Super Bowl ring after the team took down the Cincinnati Bengals.
Despite the slow start to his career, Tutu Atwell showed signs of life during his second year in the league. Becoming a depth part of the offense, the wide receiver finished the 2022 campaign with 18 receptions for 298 yards and one touchdown on 35 targets. Despite his breakout, the Rams took a step back and missed the playoffs.
Atwell continued his positive growth in 2023. Despite the presence of Cooper Kupp and rookie sensation Puka Nacua, the wide receiver still finished the season with 39 receptions for 483 yards and three touchdowns on 67 targets.
Since signing his rookie contract, Tutu Atwell has appeared in 54 games while making 23 starts. While on the field, the Louisville product has recorded 99 receptions for 1,343 yards and four touchdowns.
