Quarterback Russell Wilson has a new team for the 2024 season and now he has his backup too – and he couldn’t be happier.
Taking to X on Saturday, Wilson welcomed newly-minted Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields to the team. He shared a photo of the two meeting at midfield during last season’s game between their teams.
“Let’s get it @justnfields ! QB room bout to be 🔥 🔥 🔥,” Wilson posted on X.

Justin Fields and Russell Wilson met on the field in Week 4 of the 2023 NFL season when Fields’ Bears met Wilson’s Denver Broncos at Soldier Field. Fields and the Bears blew a 28-7 lead, surrendering 17 points in the final 10 minutes in a 31-28 loss.
The 2023 season would wind up being the final straw for both of their respective teams as the Broncos benched Wilson before the season was over and cut him several weeks ago.
Chicago initially seemed indecisive after the season on whether to get rid of Fields and draft Caleb Williams or do something else with their No. 1 overall pick. But by trading Fields to the Steelers, the Bears appear to have made their decision.
Now the two quarterbacks go from being opponents in October to teammates on a completely different team, though Wilson seems more likely to get those starter reps until head coach Mike Tomlin says otherwise.
Wilson and Fields both needed a major change of scenery after the year they had and now they get to enjoy that new scenery together.
