ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (WGN) — Former Chicago Bears kicker and franchise great Robbie Gould was announced as the new head football coach at Saint Viator High School in Arlington Heights Tuesday.
According to a press release from the school, Gould has met with player on the team and will begin in his new role immediately.
“I am both honored and excited to be joining Saint Viator High School, an institution with a storied tradition of excellence both on and off the field,” Gould said in a statement released Tuesday. “Creating a family atmosphere within our football program is of utmost importance to me. I believe in players supporting one another and striving for collective success. Our journey to greatness will begin together!”
Gould played 18 years in the NFL, 11 of which were spent with the Bears. He is Chicago’s all-time leading scorer and ranks tenth all-time in NFL history.
About a month short of being two-years removed from his last NFL game, Gould still calls the Chicago area home and previously served as the head football coach at Rolling Meadows High School.

understands our Viatorian mission, who is able to navigate the landscape of high school
football, and who possesses the necessary skills to successfully develop our players
athletically, academically, and emotionally well into the future.”
In response, Gould told the Saint Viator administration; “thank you for the opportunity to learn
here; I look forward to building upon the legacy and guiding our student athletes to achieve
their fullest potential. Let’s work tirelessly to make this esteemed community proud!”
Saint Viator will officially introduce Gould as their head football coach at a press conference on Dec. 12.
