Ben Johnson’s staff is just about filled out as they added linebackers and defensive line coaches.
According to reports, the new Chicago Bears head coach, Ben Johnson, added two more assistants to his staff on Tuesday.
Brad Biggs says that the Bears are hiring veteran coach Richard Smith as their linebackers coach. Smith has been around the league since the late 1980s. Most recently he was on Gus Bradley’s LB coach in Indianapolis. He does have history with Dennis Allen, working with him in Las Vegas back in 2021. They also overlapped for a season back in 2011 in Denver, Allen’s first year as a DC.
CBSSports reporter Matt Zenitz reports that Jeremy Garrett is being hired as the defensive line coach. Garrett held the same position last year with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He’s also worked at Liberty University, Auburn University and was an assistant with the Cleveland Browns.
