Chicago Bears wide receiver Keenan Allen was super impressed with quarterback Caleb Williams on Saturday.
The Bears opened training camp on Saturday and got to see Williams participate in his first training camp practice since he was drafted first overall.
Allen likes what he saw and thinks Williams had a better feel for the offense compared to where he was during OTAs.
“I thought he was great,” Allen said, (first transcribed by On3). “Today, we were real solid. He called the plays way better than he was in OTAs. He felt confident in the plays and what he was doing. There was no timidness from him today.”
The Bears are hoping that Williams is the answer at quarterback since it’s been a while since they had a long-term answer at the position.
Allen came over to the Bears during the offseason, along with Rome Odunze after the latter was selected ninth overall in the draft. They also have D.J. Moore in the fold and tight end Cole Kmet.
If Williams can get off to a good start, the Bears could be better than some people expect them to be this year.
Their first game will be on September 8 against the Tennessee Titans.
