In the 1940s, the Chicago Bears pushed the league into the future with their innovative wrinkle of adding motion to their T Formation. The Bears rode the offense to four championships over seven years from 1940 to 1946, interrupted by World War II.
Pigskin Dispatch is running a series covering all the NFL Championship games before the league merged with the AFL to create the Super Bowl. In case you missed it last week, I helped them by spotlighting Chicago’s fantastic 1940 season and the record-setting (73-0) Championship game. You can check that out here.
On this week’s show, I joined them to run through the Bears’ 1941 season, which featured an offense racking up an incredible 36 points per game. Check out that video in the embed below.
Or if you prefer a podcast, check out their audio version at the Pigskin Dispatch, where you can find your favorite podcasts, or at the player linked here.
Their 1943 and 1946 episodes will drop in April, featuring our guy Jack Silverstein, so stay tuned!
