The husband-and-wife sports power couple of Chicago Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson and Chicago Stars forward Mallory Swanson sold their five-bedroom, 4,989-square-foot house in Sandy Springs, Ga., near Atlanta, for $2.1 million.
Dansby Swanson, 30, paid $1.63 million in 2020 to buy the house from its builder. He then signed a seven-year, $177 million contract with the Cubs in late 2022.
After the couple married, they paid $3.5 million in mid-2023 to buy a six-bedroom, 7,000-square-foot house in Lakeview from former Cubs president Theo Epstein.
Now, the couple have decided to shed their Sandy Springs residence. They sold it in December in an off-market transaction, according to an Atlanta-area real estate source.
Built in 2018 and situated on a 1.3-acre lot, the brick house has 5-1/2 bathrooms and two fireplaces, according to public records. Other features include an outdoor fireplace, a three-car garage and a primary bedroom suite with double closets, according to past listing information.
Swanson is the latest Chicago sports figure to have listed or sold a house in the eastern U.S. Chicago Bears wide receiver D.J. Moore has a five-bedroom, 9,757-square-foot mansion in Charlotte on the market for $5 million. And legendary Bears head coach Mike Ditka, who recently returned to Chicago and bought a place in a Streeterville high-rise, has his four-bedroom, 3,436-square-foot house in Naples, Florida, on the market for $1.375 million. Ditka’s Naples home presently is under contract to sell.
