Tracking Caleb Williams and the Bears passing records
One record down, one tied, and some unexpected records in now sight. Let’s start with the stats. Caleb Williams recorded 340 yards on 32/47 passing with two scores and no interceptions.
The 340 yards gives Caleb 2,356 on the year, a new Chicago Bears rookie record. It is now his and everything he does after this will extend that out. Whew.
The two touchdowns moves him into a tie with Chuckin’ Charlie O’Rourke with eleven total. The next touchdown pass gives him sole possession of the rookie franchise mark.
The third 300-yard game of the season moves Caleb within striking distance of tying the overall franchise mark of four such games set by Mitchell Trubisky (2018), Brian Hoyer (2016), Jay Cutler (2014) and Billy Wade (1962). He is two behind the NFL rookie record of five such games set most recently by CJ Stroud last year.
Further, Caleb has thrown 193 consecutive passes without an interception, which is 18 behind Kyler Murray’s rookie record of 211. That means Caleb could own an NFL rookie record this week against the Lions.
Finally, as promised I updated the tracker to have the Vegas over/under marks from the preseason for yards (3250) and touchdowns (19.5). I’m also marking the current week with black so that you can easily tell where Caleb is at versus the pace markers and Kramer’s franchise record marks. Caleb is well ahead of the Vegas yardage over/under and not too far behind the pace to break Erik Kramer’s 3,838.
