CHICAGO (WGN) — The Cleveland Browns announced they have signed former Chicago Bears offensive lineman Teven Jenkins Thursday afternoon.
Jenkins is entering his fifth season in the NFL after spending his first four seasons playing for the Bears. Originally a second-round pick out of Oklahoma State under the Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy administration in Chicago, Jenkins has played 45 games with 38 career starts across three O-line positions: Left tackle, left guard and right guard.
In 2024, Jenkins made 14 starts at left guard for the Bears.
Chicago’s former top interior lineman was ranked No. 33 out of the NFL’s Top 150 free agents heading into the 2025 offseason by The Athletic.
Despite Caleb Williams finishing with an NFL-worst 68 sacks last year, Jenkins was only credited with giving up four of those sacks and finished the 2024 season with higher overall blocking (75.4), pass blocking (75.8) and run blocking grades (74.3) than any starter on the Browns’ offensive line last year, according to Pro Football Focus.
Even with that performance last season, there doesn’t appear to be a clear spot for him to start along the interior of Cleveland’s O-line.
Joel Bitonio, Wyatt Teller and Ethan Pocic are all entrenched at the Browns’ guard and center positions, likely making Jenkins the sixth man off the bench in the case either Bitonio or Teller go down with an injury next season.
