The Tennessee Titans will likely trade former fourth rounder Amani Hooker during the NFL Draft this offseason. According to Pro Football Focus, the source believes the Titans could send the safety to a new team as he is entering the final year of his contract. The team has been a bit active during the free agency, but even though they hold the No. 1 pick of this year’s draft, it doesn’t mean the Titans won’t ignite trade talks. Hooker is arguably one of the best secondaries pieces other than L’Jarius Sneed on this roster.
Originally selected in the 2019 NFL Draft, the former Iowa product spent his entire career with the Titans, making his debut in his rookie year and helping them lead to their first AFC Championship under head coach Mike Vrabel. It’s easy to see why the Titans would want to trade Hooker in the first place. He has a lot of value, which the team would rather retain, but they need more draft picks to rebuild their roster since they will probably take a quarterback this year. In 2024, Hooker had one of his best seasons despite the Titans firing Vrabel after recording 47 solo tackles, nine pass deflections, five interceptions and two forced fumbles.
If the Titans decide to put him on the trade block, these four teams could use another safety in their unit.

Next Possible Teams
Kansas City Chiefs
Last season, the Kansas City Chiefs had a lot of question marks in their secondary unit. However, Trent McDuffie was able to fill in the shoes after trading L’Jarius Sneed to the Titans. The team is hoping that Bryan Cook can step up in Justin Reid’s absence this upcoming season since he’s signing with the Saints. There’s no such thing as too many safeties in this league and being that they got embarrassed in the Super Bowl, they should make a splash run for Hooker to bolster their pass defense.
Baltimore Ravens
Meanwhile, if anyone in the league can bring out a threat in the making on defense, it’s the Baltimore Ravens. The team had one of the worst secondary units, later benching Marcus Williams in favor of Ar’Darius Washington. While they will start Washington alongside star Kyle Hamilton, they should trade for Hooker to give him Washington stability in his starting role.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints have done well this offseason despite the salary cap concerns. After signing Justin Reid, the team has two safeties, along with veteran Tyrann Mathieu, who is capable of destroying an offense’s aerial attack. However, Mathieu has been in several trade rumors this offseason, and since taking a pay cut, the team could move on. If that happens, they should pinch more pennies to compensate the last year of Hooker’s contract and see how he performs in this secondary.
Los Angeles Chargers
For the Chargers, the defense will look dramatically different this upcoming season. After letting Kristian Fulton walk and Asante Samuel Jr. is still a free agent, the team should sign another secondary threat to bolster the unit. Alohi Gilman and Derwin James Jr. are only effective when healthy, but they could use Hooker’s presence as depth.
