Wide receiver Tee Higgins is one of the best free agents in the 2025 class. While Higgins has expressed an interest in returning to the Cincinnati Bengals in the past, the team may not want or be able to pay him the contract he desires. So besides Cincinnati, where else would be a good fit for Higgins?
Best Tee Higgins Team Fits
Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins have made for an elite quarterback, wide receiver trio. This includes a Super Bowl appearance in the 2021-22 season. Higgins has had at least 900 receiving yards in four of his first five seasons in the league, including this season in which he only played 12 games. Burrow and Chase have expressed their desire for Higgins to return to Cincinnati. However, the Bengals front office might end up disagreeing. Higgins could fit well with these other teams.
New England Patriots
The New England Patriots are looking towards the future. After a promising rookie season from quarterback Drake Maye, the Patriots should look to invest in help around him. New head coach Mike Vrabel has stated that the team needs to be elite around Maye as well. Tee Higgins is a perfect target for New England. He is still young as he just turned 26 years old. The Patriots have the cap space to pay him. Maye will get his first true wide receiver one, and Higgins would be peppered with targets. However, one potential obstacle is if Higgins wants to sign with a win-now team as the Patriots are still a few years away from returning to contending.
Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders may be a bit of a sleeper here. However, coming off of an NFC Championship appearance, their contention timeline has been accelerated. With rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels having so much success already, the Commanders should look to add to their already dynamic offense. Washington has enough cap space to pursue Tee Higgins. Terry McLaurin and Higgins would make an elite pairing on the outside for Daniels. Offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury is returning to the team as well after receiving head coaching interest. This feels like a great time for the Commanders to capitalize on their young franchise quarterback’s prime and invest even further in the offense around Daniels.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Los Angeles Chargers are coming off of an extremely disappointing showing in the AFC Wild Card round against the Houston Texans. The team lost 32-12, and franchise quarterback Justin Herbert threw four interceptions. Rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey was elite for Herbert and the offense this season. However, outside of McConkey, the Chargers offense doesn’t have much help for Herbert. With over $70 million in cap space, the Chargers could pursue Tee Higgins and boost their offense. Head coach Jim Harbaugh likes to run the ball. However, it was evident against the Texans that the team needs more offensive firepower on the outside. Higgins on the outside paired with McConkey in the slot would be a very dangerous duo for the Chargers.
Tee Higgins is a top receiver talent in the NFL. If the Cincinnati Bengals want to bring him back, they will have to pay him, but Higgins would very likely re-sign. If the Bengals do not want to pay him, the Chargers, Commanders, and Patriots could all be suitors for his services as they all have the necessary cap space and need help on the outside.
