The 2024 NFL Pro Bowl rosters have been announced, and at least two players are set to represent the Chicago Bears. Defensive end Montez Sweat and cornerback Jaylon Johnson were both selected for their first Pro Bowl on the NFC squad. Sweat is listed as a starter, while Johnson is a reserve.
Sweat has only spent half a season with the Bears after he was acquired from the Washington Commanders in a midseason trade, but his immediate impact helped catapult him to a career year. Sweat has tallied 12.5 sacks, 54 tackles (13 for a loss), three forced fumbles, and four pass breakups for the season. He’s likely going to become the first player in NFL history to lead multiple teams in sacks during one season.
Johnson, meanwhile, has been one of the Bears mainstays and also turned in a career year at the perfect time. Entering the final year of his rookie deal, Johnson set a career high in interceptions with four, while also breaking up 10 passes and forcing one fumble. He’s been the No. 1 cornerback by PFF standards this year, and quarterbacks have just a 50.9 rating when targeting him. He and Sweat are both big reasons why the Bears defense has become such a formidable unit.
When the news was announced, Bears fans celebrated on social media but also couldn’t help noticing other key players were left out, such as wide receiver DJ Moore, linebacker TJ Edwards, and guard Teven Jenkins. Here is how Bears fans (and some players) reacted to the Pro Bowl roster release.
