CHICAGO (WGN) —The Chicago Bears have signed defensive back Nick McCloud to a one-year contract, the team announced on X Monday afternoon.
McCloud is heading into his fifth NFL season. Previously, he tallied 48 career games played with the Cincinnati Bengals (2021), New York Giants (2022-24) and San Francisco 49ers. McCloud has registered 84 tackles, 10 passes defended, 3 forced fumbles and 1 interception, while primarily serving as a core special teamer across his four years in the NFL.
In 2024, he split time between the Giants (7 games played, 5 starts) and 49ers (8 games played), where he totaled 25 tackles, 1 tackle-for-loss and 1 pass defended.
McCloud, who added two postseason appearances with the Giants in 2022 and registered a forced fumble, has also spent time on the practice squad of the Buffalo Bills (2021).
In college, he played for North Carolina State for three-plus years (2016-19) before taking his talents to South Bend in 2020. As a graduate transfer, McCloud earned second-team All-ACC honors from the Associated Press.
He went undrafted in 2021 but made the practice squad in Buffalo and later, the Bengals’ roster for two games before playing three seasons with the Giants and eventually, the 49ers.
