The Chicago Bears are in the middle of a franchise-defining 2024 offseason, where they have the first overall pick in the NFL draft for the second consecutive year. But general manager Ryan Poles has to make an all-important decision at quarterback — stick with Justin Fields or draft a rookie at No. 1.
Chicago has the third-most salary cap space in the NFL — $66.99 million — which puts them in a position to make some big moves when free agency kicks off next month. But they do have some dead money following some recent cuts to safety Eddie Jackson and offensive lineman Cody Whitehair.
According to Over The Cap, the Bears currently have $10.53 million in dead money for the 2024 season, which is the 11th most in the NFL — but it’s definitely less than prior years when Poles had to clean up the books.
Here is a look at the three players who are responsible for the team’s dead money. (All figures are from Over The Cap).
