The 2024 NFL draft is upon us. Every team in the league will enter Thursday with the belief they’ll turn things around or continue building off their success. The Chicago Bears are entering the draft ready to turn a new chapter with their pair of top-10 selections.
There’s no doubt the Bears will select Caleb Williams with the first overall pick. The big question is what the Bears will do with that ninth overall selection. Everybody has a different opinion on what they should decide on. The options are to trade the pick up, trade it down, or use it on a blue chip prospect.
CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones revealed his latest latest mock draft, where the Bears overhaul their offense in Round 1. He had Chicago selecting Williams first overall. That part is obvious at this point.
He’s been the choice for months now. The Bears have spent enough time with him, and he with them, to make this marriage work. There’s no suspense here and I need not write much more.
At No. 9, Jones has the Bears landing Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze. This would be incredible for Chicago’s offense as Odunze would join a room that features DJ Moore and Keenan Allen. With Cole Kmet, Gerald Everett, and D’Andre Swift as additional weapons, that could be a very deep offense for Chicago.
The entire Chicago Bears organization is being reimagined this offseason and GM Ryan Poles gets two franchise-changers in the top nine. Sure, they sent a fourth for Keenan Allen, but he only has this year left on his deal. Odunze with D.J. Moore is a dream for years to come for Caleb Williams.
If the Bears’ first round played out like this, they’d be entering the 2024 season with a potential explosive offense. With a top-10 defense already in place, they could certainly contend for the playoffs.
