For the first time in two seasons, the Chicago Bears have manufactured a winning streak. And they did it against a division leader, too. The Bears welcomed the Detroit Lions to Soldier Field on Sunday and finished what they started three weeks ago by closing them out in a decisive 28-13 victory. The Bears improved to 5-8 and kept the door ajar on a possible playoff push, while the Lions fell to 9-4 in what is slowly becoming a tighter divisional race.
Chicago had a similar start to what they did three weeks ago against these Lions, getting an early lead only to see it vanish by halftime. But instead of letting them hang around late in the fourth quarter, the Bears were able to close them out both on offense and defense. Big scores in the second half, along with key turnovers on defense, ended any hope of another Lions comeback, and the Bears celebrated the biggest win in Matt Eberflus’ coaching tenure.
The first game out of the bye was a success for the Bears, and with just four remaining in the regular season, they’ll be looking to keep the good vibes going. Here are our takeaways from Sunday’s win.
