Jacob Parrish isn’t among the most talked-about corners in college football but has cemented himself as a sneakily solid NFL Draft prospect. Here is a 2025 NFL Draft Early Scouting Report and film analysis on him.
Overview, Film Analysis, And Early 2025 Scouting Report Of Kansas State DB Jacob Parrish
Measurables:
- 5’10”
- 198 lbs
Player Background:
Jacob Parrish committed to Kansas State out of Olathe North HS (KS) in the 2022 class as a three-star athlete. He was ranked as a Top-20 recruit in the state and joined the Wildcats as a cornerback. He appeared in every game during his true freshman season, seeing over 300 total snaps at CB. His contributions came on both defense and special teams, making 14 total tackles with three pass breakups.
He quickly became a starter at the beginning of the 2023 season and stayed at the top of the depth chart for the rest of his KSU career. Parrish’s sophomore campaign finished with 44 tackles, 2.5 TFLs, 0.5 sacks, four interceptions, and 13 PBUs. He posted his highest snap total in 2024 before declaring for the draft. In his final collegiate season, he put up 50 tackles, an INT, and seven PBUs.
Accolades:
- Honorable Mention All-Big 12 (2023)
- Honorable Mention All-Big 12 (2024)
Strengths/Pros:
Parrish’s match technique in outside leverage is sound, keeping his feet with the wideout and driving to the sideline. His feet are quick out of his stance and he can keep himself moving to smoothly process release packages. He stays within his base through his backpedal and remains athletically engaged to stick with routes. He flips his hips well when working deep into the secondary and fluidly transitions into a downfield sprinter to defend seam shots. His hand-eye coordination at the catch point is elite, setting up with the ball’s trajectory well and staying physical throughout the play.
His hand placement is precise when driving through blocks, closing out bubble screens, and rapidly eliminating space. Parrish diagnoses screens effectively and takes good pursuit angles to drive toward the ball carrier. He has a sharp plant step in zone coverage and solid instincts, crashing on underneath routes and closing out space before it fully opens. He’s a solid tackler after the catch, wrapping up well and wrestling down bigger receivers.
Weaknesses/Cons:
Parrish runs into some trouble when tasked with physical coverage schemes. He gets too choppy at points and needs to flow with contact more smoothly through route cuts. He struggles with being too grabby when WRs try to break away and could struggle with penalties. His hips get turned around too much when accounting for outside routes with inside zone leverage, leaving a big blind spot open and letting more nuanced route runners take advantage easily.
He drifts downfield too much in coverage when offensive schemes begin on the opposite side of the field. This lets crossing routes open up late on his side and increases the potential for chunk plays. Parrish needs to better understand the difference between pure physicality and tactical contact, frequently attacking WRs through high-violence routes but with little plan. He overextends himself laterally in the run game and tends to give up the outside when trying to plug inside holes.
Potential Team Fits:
NFL Projection:
Parrish has the makings of a starting NFL corner and could succeed immediately in a zone-heavy scheme. His off-coverage skills are extremely solid but he will definitely need to improve his physical technique to survive in isolated coverage on the outside. He defends the run well enough as well to be considered an all-around CB prospect and should become a quality starter in a short time.
Prospect Grade:
- Early To Mid 3rd Round
Film Exposures:
- 2024 vs. Iowa State
- 2024 vs. Arizona State
- 2024 vs. Oklahoma State
