- Let Daniel Jones be a lesson to everyone: if a QB was never great before getting to the NFL, he’s probably not going to be great in the NFL. That’s how a guy who should’ve been, say, the 106th pick in a draft becomes the sixth pick and, after getting paid following the first sign of good (not great) play, gets released two years into the deal. That said, going to the Minnesota Vikings as a backup feels like a good way to reset his career. He may not be a starter in the league, but he can play a long time as a No. 2.
- In a vacuum, it’s always better to bet on a potential franchise QB over a good, even, elite RB, but you’ll never convince me rolling with Daniel Jones over Saquon Barkley was a good idea. And that was before Barkley totaled 302 yards in a win over the LA Rams.
- Clearly, I hated too hard on Bo Nix. Even if he feels like more of an athletic Mac Jones right now, that’s pretty damn good for a rookie QB. Consider him a real contender for the Rookie of the Year award we assumed Jayden Daniels had all but locked up.
- The Chicago Bears have officially reached the “better luck next year” portion of their season, but damn it if I’m not more excited for Caleb Williams than I have been since he was drafted. The Bears can lose every game from here on out if he keeps playing like this, and I won’t be (that) mad.
- If there was ever a time to jump the Lions, it’s now. Thanksgiving day on a short week. They’ve been coasting. The Bears have given them hell the last two games, nearly upending them last year at Ford Field. Hand them their second loss of the season, and I might start buying this team again.
- For the love of god, Dallas Cowboys, find more ways to get Kavonte Turpin the football. I just want to see him run with it as often as possible. I haven’t seen someone create a TD out of such a disadvantageous position since Year 2 Devin Hester.
- Remember the adage, “If you have two QBs, you have none?” Looks like the Pittsburgh Steelers are living that reality. Neither QB they have is bad, and you might have an elite one if you could put them together. But their offense, from the QB situation to George Pickens’ lack of mental stability or ball tracking skills, is stopping them from being real contenders.
- Find something — ANYTHING — else to do than flip on that Giants-Cowboys game. Please, for your own mental health.
- There’s something about Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs being pissed off that they barely beat the lowly Carolina Panthers that I love. No win is guaranteed in the NFL, and teams with championship aspirations can’t afford to settle for mediocrity. Eventually, I want the Bears to aspire to that.
- Aaron Rodgers fading into ignominy at the end of his career is making me so happy. Even if he wants to play next year when he’s 41, the days of him leading a championship contender or getting his way entirely feel all but done. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.
