It’s apparently been really hard for the Chicago Bulls to try to deal Zach LaVine.
According to Bobby Marks of ESPN, there is “no market” for the All-Star guard even with Chicago trying to sweeten the pot with a first-round pick.
“Literally, there is no market for Zach Lavine. They are trying to give him away and attach a first round pick. I’ve been told that by multiple, multiple people and that is not happening,” Marks explained.
Adding that “If there’s no unloading of the LaVine contract, then [DeMar] DeRozan is just basically hanging in the wind.”
LaVine is coming off one of his worst (and unhealthiest) seasons in a long time — which was cut short by a season-ending foot injury that required surgery.
The 29-year-old high flyer is owed $138 million over the next three seasons which very few teams would like to take on with the way things have been trending over the past year or so.
It’s unfortunate because LaVine’s play really took off with the Bulls. However, that is a hefty price to pay for an aging scorer whose game is built a primarily around athleticism and springiness.
We’ll see if Chicago’s front office is able to make some magic and find a taker before its too late.
