Best Fits For Collin Murray-Boyles Among Lottery Teams

January 22, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Basketball

South Carolina forward Collin Murray-Boyles has been one of the most productive power forward prospects alongside Cooper Flagg and Asa Newell. Like Flagg and Newell, Murray-Boyles has been mocked as a potential lottery pick. As a player, Murray-Boyles’ best qualities involve his interior scoring, rebounding, defense, and court vision. Given his overall skill set, many teams will consider him for their draft pick. Let’s dive into the best fits for Collin Murray-Boyles among teams currently projected to be in the 2025 NBA Draft lottery.

Best Fits For Collin Murray-Boyles Among Lottery Teams

Oklahoma City Thunder

Despite being the first seed in the Western Conference, the Thunder has the opportunity to draft in the lottery. Particularly, if the Philadelphia 76ers first-round pick falls outside of the top six, Oklahoma City gets their pick. With that pick, they can draft Murray-Boyles, who would fit well on their team. While he isn’t a shooter, Murray-Boyles does have great court vision and connective playmaking. Undoubtedly, Murray-Boyles has the ability to move the ball around the court, which fits with the Thunder’s playstyle. Furthermore, Murray-Boyles will feast on short-roll passes for good looks at the basket. To put a cherry on top offensively, Murray-Boyles has been an excellent rebounder on both ends and will create second-chance opportunities.

On the defensive end, Murray-Boyles can add size and athleticism to the Thunder’s frontcourt depth. While undersized for his position, Murray-Boyles gives Oklahoma City the overall size that they need in the frontcourt as well as a hard-nosed defender. Also, Murray-Boyles has been versatile defensively which would further improve the Thunder’s defense. Overall, Murray-Boyles would do well in Oklahoma City.

Golden State Warriors

Despite the uncertain future of Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors, Murray-Boyles would fit well in their system. Offensively, Murray-Boyles will do well as the Warriors operate a ton off the short roll. Murray-Boyles has the passing skills and the finishing to be an offensive threat in his own right playing off of Curry. In a way, Murray-Boyles would play a similar role as Draymond Green on the offensive end for the Warriors. Defensively, Murray-Boyles will give the Warriors extra depth in the frontcourt they desperately need. His ability to defend across multiple positions and rebound the ball will fortify the team even further. However, the most important thing is that Murray-Boyles has the talent and skills to be a long-term piece for the Warriors after Curry rides off into the sunset. Murray-Boyles to Golden State will be a good partnership for all parties involved.

Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls will have an excellent player if they draft Murray-Boyles. The Bulls currently just need more talent on the roster given that they are in a semi-rebuild already. They lack any stand-out young talent outside of Matas Buzelis. With Murray-Boyles, they will have a long-term piece who has the talent and potential to be an excellent player in the league. For Murray-Boyles, he will find a place where he can continue to work on his game without the fear of needing to be a rotational player right away like in Oklahoma City or with Golden State. In general, Chicago will get a talented prospect for the future and Murray-Boyles will get a place to further develop.
