Last week, Lonzo Ball appeared in an NBA regular-season game for the first time since January of 2022. The former No. 2 pick spent an extended period of time due to a knee injury that required a cartilage transplant.
Ball hasn’t received a ton of playing time this season with the Chicago Bulls since he’s working his way back into the thick of things. That being said, he’s averaging 4.7 points and 3.7 assists per game.
Unfortunately, it could be a while before Bulls fans get to see Ball back on the court. Once again, the talented point guard from UCLA is dealing with an injury. This time around, it’s a right wrist sprain.
The Bulls announced that Ball suffered this wrist injury during Monday’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies. He’ll be re-evaluated in 10 days and they’ll provide updates when they’re available.
The NBA community is understandably upset about this Tuesday’s announcement. The last thing people want is for Ball to miss time due to injury.
“Can’t catch a break man,” a fan wrote on X.
“At least it’s not the knee …. But you gotta be kidding,” a second fan tweeted.
Another person said, “Tough break for Lonzo, but sounds like a minor setback considering what he’s already overcome to get back.”
When healthy, Ball is a dynamic playmaker capable of setting his teammates up with clean looks. During the 2021-22 season, he averaged 13.0 points and 5.1 assists per game for the Bulls.
We’re wishing Ball a speedy recovery.
