The post White Sox to promote No. 4 prospect Bryan Ramos appeared first on Sox On 35th.
The White Sox are reportedly calling up one of their top prospects.
Third baseman Bryan Ramos, who was with Double-A Birmingham, is set to join the Major League club in St. Louis. The news was first reported by James Fox of Future Sox and later confirmed by Francys Romero. Ramos is the 4th ranked prospect in the White Sox system according to MLB Pipeline and was 6th in Sox on 35th’s Preseason Top 30.
Ramos, 22, has had a bit of a slow start to the 2024 season, as his current slash line is .182/.265/.307 with a 75 wRC+. However, he has been on fire over his last 8 games. During that span, he has hit for an OPS over 1.000 with his only two home runs of the season. Ramos has also received rave reports about his defense, which he began to show during Spring Training.
The White Sox initially acquired Ramos through the 2018 international signing period, inking him for a $300,000 signing bonus. Since then, he has slowly ascended as one of the top prospects in the White Sox farm system. He has cracked several outlets’ top 100 prospect lists over the last couple of years and saw plenty of success in 2023 in his first stint at the Double-A level despite being younger than the average age at that level.
It remains to be seen how long Ramos will be with the White Sox. This could be just another quick call-up stint similar to Jose Rodriguez last season. However, there’s little doubt that Ramos will be contributing to the Major League club in the near future. For now, he gets his first chance to prove that he belongs in the long-term plans of the Chicago White Sox.
