Lance Lynn, who struck out 41 in his last four starts prior to Atlanta, made his 19th start of the season in tonight’s game against the Braves. He finished the night with 5.1 IP, 6 H, 4 ER and 6 K.
In the top of the 3rd inning, two single from Zach Remillard and Oscar Colás put runners in scoring position for the White Sox. Andrew Benintendi singled on a fly ball to left fielder Eddie Rosario, bringing home Remillard. Luis Robert Jr. followed suite with a double (24) to drive in Colás and Benintendi, giving the White Sox a 3–0 lead.
The Atlanta Braves battled right back in the bottom of the frame. Eddie Rosario homered on a fly ball to right center field, his 15th of the season. Ronald Acuña Jr. homered later that inning to tie the game, 3–3.
In the 5th inning, Benintendi snuck a line drive past left fielder Eddie Rosario to score Seby Zavala. The Braves leveled it up as Austin Riley’s single RBI drove home Ozzie Albies, bringing the score to 4–4.
Jake Burger took the lead right back with this 20th home run of the season, a 355 ft. homer to right field!
Gregory Santos, Keynan Middleton and Kendall Graveman proved strong in relief, notching a combined 5 strikeouts and allowing only one run.
Andrew Benintendi went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI as the White Sox defeated the Atlanta Braves, 6–5, at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia. The game was broadcast nationally on FOX with Jason Benetti and Tom Verducci on the call.
