This season, the Chicago White Sox are happy to introduce the content creator program, an initiative to allow content creators the opportunity to experience working in a live professional sports setting. The program’s goal is to feature a unique perspective of the team, ballpark, and fan experience at Guaranteed Rate Field.
Lizzie Roehrs, a Milwaukee-based photographer, has been shooting baseball games for almost 10 years and says nothing compares to the opportunities she’s been given by the content creator program.
“The content creator program has been surreal,” said Roehrs. “I’ve been shooting baseball for about a decade, focusing on high school and college games, and this opportunity has really shown me what a jump in skill and equipment it is to shoot a major league baseball game.”
The Milwaukee-based photographer believes that, over just a few short months, she’s learned a lot from her fellow content creators.
“This program has already improved my skills,” said Roehrs. “I’ve been able to learn from people who are where I want to be, and it’s been wonderful that everyone I’m meeting here has been so welcoming and encouraging.”
The photographer believes she is making the right moves to further her career after joining the content creator program.
“Sports is such a small world,” said the photographer. “The first team I ever shot in college had a player named Nick Maton. The latest game I shot for the Sox was against the Detroit Tigers- who he now plays for. I ran into Nick again and it was just an incredible feeling for me to come so full circle and meet up with him as we’re both achieving our dreams.”
Outside of shooting White Sox games for the content creator program, Lizzie works in communications for a fine art museum. She appreciates her position because she finds it grounding to be surrounded by works of classical and contemporary art while exploring her own style and technical eye.
The White Sox look to continue the content creator program going forward as the goal is to continue to empower individuals and allow them the opportunity to capture a game, telling a different story from their perspective and helping them find their way into the sports photography field.
Here is a look at Lizzie’s favorite shots from her time so far as a member of the content creator program and be sure to check out more of her work on her Instagram page.
