Dylan Cease made his 26th start of the season, 13th on the road and seventh during interleague play. He went 4.2 IP with 8 H, 5 ER, 2 BB and 6 K.
Andrew Vaughn gave the White Sox the lead in the 2nd with a solo homer to left center field, his 16th of the 2023 season!
In the 3rd inning, Andrew Benintendi stole 3rd, to then come home on a throwing error by Rockies’ catcher Austin Wynns. In the bottom of the frame, Charlie Blackmon hit a solo homer to cut the White Sox lead in half, 2–1.
The Rockies tied the game in the 4th with an RBI single from Michael Toglia. In the 5th, Colorado tacked on more with an RBI single from Ezequiel Tovar and 2-RBI single from Harold Castro to give the Rockies the lead, 5–2.
The Good Guys didn’t give up. In the 7th, Zach Remillard’s double drove home Gavin Sheets, making the score 5–3. The next inning, Yoán Moncada doubled to tie it at 5, driving in Andrew Benintendi and Luis Robert Jr. Oscar Colás kept it going with a 2-RBI double to give the White Sox the lead, 7–5. To cap off the 8th inning, Lenyn Sosa launched a 3-run homer to extend the lead, 10–5.
Bryan Shaw, Aaron Bummer and Gregory Santos all provided solid innings of relief. The three combined for 4.1 IP with only 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB and 5 K. Bummer picked up his 4th win of the season.
The Chicago White Sox defeated the Colorado Rockies, 10–5, at Coors Field in Denver, Co. Following today’s series finale, the Sox return to Chicago for a seven-game homestand vs. Seattle (8/21–23) and Oakland (8/24–27).
