White Sox bats were booming tonight vs. the New York Yankees, scoring 12 runs on 18 hits.
New York struck first in the top of the first inning on an Aaron Judge RBI double. The Sox would answer right back with 2 runs of their own on an Andrew Benintendi RBI double and Gavin Sheets RBI double.
In the 4th inning, Korey Lee blasts his 10th home run of the season 407 feet to left field. Nicky Lopez would tack on another with an RBI single to score Dominic Fletcher and put the Sox up 4–1.
Yankees Anthony Volpe knocks an RBI single to bring in Jazz Chisolm Jr. in the top of the 5th inning, but that is all the offense New York could muster.
Gavin Sheets would add on one in the bottom of the 5th with another RBI double to bring home Andrew Benintendi.
The Sox bats would break it open in the 7th inning. Gavin Sheets notched yet another double to score Andrew Vaughn. Dominic Fletcher singled on a fly ball to center field to bring in Gavin Sheets. Corey Julks got in on the fun with an RBI single of his own to score Korey Lee. Then, Brooks Baldwin capped it off with a 3-run homer to right field, scoring Fletcher and Julks. Sox now lead 11–2.
Gavin Sheets added on one more run for good measure in the bottom of the 8th, scoring Andrew Vaughn.
Andrew Benintendi went 2-for-5 with 2 runs. Andrew Vaughn went 4-for-5 with 2 runs. Gavin Sheets went 4-for-5 with 1 run and 4 RBI. Korey Lee went 2-for-4 with 2 runs. Dominic Fletcher went 3-for-5 with 2 runs. Brooks Baldwin went 1-for-4 with 3 RBI.
Sox pitching held it down as well. Starter Ky Bush, in his second career start, went 4.2 innings with 2 runs and 2 strikeouts. Touki Toussaint pitched 1.1 with a strikeout and earned the win. Justin Anderson tossed 1.0 with 2 strikeouts and earned the hold. Dominic Leone and Steven Wilson closed out the game each tossing 1.0 innings and fanning 1.
