Injuries have held the outfielder to 356 at-bats in his professional career. Last season, DeLauter advanced to Triple-A Columbus despite playing in only six games.
Chase DeLauter Sidelined with Sports Hernia
DeLauter spent significant time on the injured list last season, missing action on three separate occasions. After an impressive spring training with the big league club, he was sidelined at Double-A Akron with a sprained left foot and a bruised right big toe. Following his promotion to Triple-A Columbus, a left hamstring strain kept him out again. Despite limited time in the minors, DeLauter has been highly productive, posting a .317/.387/.517 slash line over 96 games. Last season, he appeared in 36 games between Akron and Columbus, hitting seven home runs and driving in 23 RBI
Even with different injury setbacks, DeLauter has shown why he’s considered one of Cleveland’s top prospects. He made the most of his time on the field last year, showcasing an advanced approach at the plate and consistent production. His strong performance in the Arizona Fall League further reinforced his potential, giving the Guardians hope that he can make an impact when healthy. The way he performed in the AFL, he seems primed to put on another show. DeLauter just needs to stay healthy. If he does, he will certainly be in a good spot with José Ramírez, Kyle Manzardo, and Steven Kwan in the lineup.
