The White Sox are already looking ahead to their international class for 2025.
According to Francys Romero, the club is expected to sign third-base prospect Alejandro Cruz for approximately $2 million when the new international signing period opens on January 15, 2025. Despite being eligible to sign in this year’s signing period, Romero reports that Cruz will wait due to limitations with the White Sox’s current international budget.
Cruz, 17, currently profiles as a third baseman, but Romero said in a post earlier this offseason that he has the skills to play multiple positions. Romero also mentioned that Cruz is a solid athlete with solid contact ability.
Cruz was a member of Cuba’s U-18 National team in 2023 at only 16 years of age. According to Romero, he batted .337 (30-89), with six doubles, two triples, 12 RBIs and 10 stolen bases.
Unfortunately, this is the extent of available information on Cruz, though we are hoping more comes to light as the upcoming signing period approaches.
