How much longer will the White Sox go before making a managerial change?
ESPN’s Jesse Rogers is just one of the many reporters who believe that Pedro Grifol’s days on the South Side could be numbered. On Thursday’s episode of Foul Territory, Rogers said that it appears change is imminent.
During the same episode, The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal echoed a similar belief by saying Grifol could be fired at “any moment now.”
Grifol, who has one year remaining on his contract, owns a disastrous 88-185 record in his White Sox tenure over the past two seasons. While he doesn’t deserve all of the blame, especially given the hand he was dealt heading into this year, Grifol’s had plenty of shortcomings in his first and possibly only managerial stint. With the White Sox currently 27-84 (.243) and in the middle of a 17-game losing streak, it wouldn’t be shocking if patience in the front office is running thin.
The results on the field this weekend could have big implications on Grifol’s future and bring his stint to an early end. We’ll be keeping a close eye on the situation for any further developments.
