Here is at least one nugget on each White Sox alumni in the “Chicago White Sox Legends” Facebook group:
*JACK MCDOWELL: Months before joining the Sox in 1987, the sturdy right-hander halted future teammate Robin Ventura’s NCAA record 58-game hitting streak while pitching for Stanford against Oklahoma State.
*BILL NAHORODNY: His 82 hits in 1978 were the most by a White Sox rookie catcher since Mike Tresh’s 91 in 1939.
*AARON ROWAND: Wall-crashing outfielder is the White Sox all-time leader with seven doubles.
*JAMES BALDWIN: Right-hander was an amazing 12-1 with a 2.30 ERA in domes for the White Sox
*TODD RIZZO: The last big league batter the lefty faced was Jose Valentin (single) in the White Sox 5-4 loss at Milwaukee on July 18, 1999.
*JON ADKINS: The righty is one of three natives of West Virginia to pitch for the White Sox (along with Chuck Stobbs and Ken Ash) … Adkins is the Sox career leader among West Virginians with 59 outings.
*WAYNE EDWARDS: Left-hander is the last Sox reliever to throw four no-hit innings for a save (April 29, 1990).
*MATT MERULLO: Catcher clubbed the final homer in a Comiskey Park opener in the White Sox 7-4 loss to Oakland in 1989. There is no known footage of the blast because it came during a power outage at the park.
