Buehrle, 45, received 32 votes in 2024 to appear on just 8.3% of ballots. It’s yet another drop in what’s been an up-and-down experience thus far, with 44 votes in 2021, 23 votes in 2022, and 42 votes in 2023. He needs at least five percent of the overall vote to remain on the ballot for up to 10 years total.
The former White Sox left-hander finished his career with a 214-160 career record and a 3.81 ERA. The five-time All-Star threw 14 consecutive seasons with 200 or more innings pitched, falling just four outs short of extending that streak to 15 in his final season.
Buehrle now enters his fifth year on the ballot with hopes of a better outcome.
